About the work
Here we are, facing the Matterhorn, king of the Valais Alps. This mythical mountain of the Swiss Alps rises 4478 metres above the Zermatt valley. Here, the Matterhorn, freshly covered in snow, enjoys the calm of a late summer evening. Admiring its north face illuminated by the last rays of the sun is only possible at this time of year. The image is rare, and all the more precious as the heatwave gradually takes over from the summer precipitation, leaving little chance for summit to dress in white. This portrait of the Matterhorn, taken in 2017, bears witness to an era that will soon be over.
This magnificent photograph is the result of a long process search. I had to find the perfect angle from which to sublimate the exceptional power of the Matterhorn. It appears here like a natural pyramid, imposing and unchanging. The position of the mountain, the sequence of shots, the balance of the work - everything in this photographic portrait highlights the purity of this legendary, inaccessible and majestic mountain.
The Matterhorn has a special place in my art and in my heart. It inspires me deeply. From the very first moment we met, I experienced moments of absolute grace. The fascinating play of light that brings its snowy walls to life, the unique dance of the clouds around its summit. Since then, I've never ceased to roam the mountain's outskirts and take the most beautiful photographs. An eternal ode to this giant of the Alps, whose grandeur captured me at first sight.
The beauty of photography lies not only in the way it captures light. That would be too simple. Several elements must enter into symbiosis for the work to come to fruition. The power of the wind on the ridges of the Matterhorn is perceptible, brutally blowing away the snow, which then has no choice but to flee the mountain. The fabulous cloud swirling around summit adds emotion to the image and makes the work unique. Finally, I love the incredible depth that emerges from the painting. The play of light and shadow on the different sides of the mountain plunges us into the heart of the Matterhorn's universe, revealing its soul and personality. While revealing a little of its history, it commands respect and reminds us just how beautiful and formidable nature can be.

My wife and I are amazed at the quality of print and the rendering of this magnificent photo. We had waited many years to put a picture on this blank wall because we had never "flashed" on a piece of art. Now we've found it, and it fits in perfectly at the entrance to our apartment. What's more, it depicts 3 summits that are particularly close to our hearts: the Weisshorn, Dent Blanche and the Matterhorn - quite a symbol...
