about the work
Dazzling panoramic photograph of the Combins massif, which dominates the Val de Bagnes, in the Swiss Valais. From the slopes of Verbier, you can admire these impressive mountains of more than 4000 meters of altitude. The Combins rise in the heart of the Alps, between the Mont-Blanc massif and the Valais Alps. A real diamond in the rough, the massif forms a wall of ice with an invincible armor but a fragile heart. Our gaze travels among the summits, covering in an instant these legendary mountains that can only be reached after several days' walking. Our journey begins on the left at Tournelon Blanc and Tour de Boussine, before crossing the Combins in the opposite direction to the Alpine route. We climb up to the Combin de la Tsessette and the Aiguille du Croissant before reaching the Combin de Grafeneire or Grand Combin, ruler of the massif. We then descend to the Combin de Valsorey and the Combin de Corbassière before reaching the Petit Combin. At the foot of the Corbassière glacier, the black triangular Panossière hut stands out against the moraine. The only man-made landmark lost in the midst of this grandiose, untouched immensity, it reminds us just how tiny we really are.
I took this beautiful black and white photograph after a snowstorm. The immaculate reliefs plunge us into a sumptuous universe where absolute purity merges with the implacable power of the elements. It took me many years to capture this state of grace. The high mountains in their most beautiful light. I chose this particular angle of view because it is from here that the Combins massif appears the most imposing and wild. On its print in large format, the photograph offers to the eye many details. An abstract adventure that makes us discover new creations every day. The play of the snow on the rocks invites the imagination. I guess a dog's head on the Tournelon Blanc. And you, what do these reliefs inspire you?

We go up to the Combin de la Tsessette and the Aiguille du Croissant before reaching the Combin de Grafeneire or Grand Combin, sovereign of the massif.
