Bernina twins
About the work
I captured this black-and-white portrait while the fog was still enveloping the base of the mountains. The sun, shyly peeking through the clouds, revealed the contours of these two fraternal summits . The snow covering their flanks accentuated the almost spiritual purity of these twin giants. But what fascinates me in this composition is the indentation that separates the two peaks. Like a pass suspended between two worlds, it draws a dividing line that invites our gaze into the depths of the sky.
Observe the interplay of light and shadow. The rays caress each of the twins differently. One seems brighter, more accessible, while the other remains partially veiled, more mysterious. This duality evokes for me the very nature of our relationship with the high mountains: between what can be seen and what remains hidden.
