Here we are in front of The Dent Blanche, queen of the Alps, emblematic mountain of the Val d'Hérens, in Switzerland. On the left, the Monte Rosa massif rises, with the Dufourspitze and the Nordend, while the valiant Matterhorn appears on the right of the photograph. Surrounding the summit, they bring depth and balance to the picture. I took this portrait on an autumn afternoon, when the first snow had just covered the summits. It is 2022 and the high mountains are just recovering from a terribly hot summer. While taking this photograph, I discovered a transformed landscape. The glacier of the The Dent Blanche presents me its new crevasses as many traces of the sufferings undergone during the last months. Testimony of a living mountain which evolves inexorably. The movement of nature is also materialized by the cloud that clings to the summit, evoking the breath of the winds in the high mountains. The autumn light is unique and reveals the beauty of The Dent Blanche with interesting contrasts, both soft and deep. I love the shadow cast by the mountain on its glacier. I was very lucky to be present at the very moment when the sun broke through the clouds, giving the work an exceptional dimension. With its unparalleled grace, its pyramidal silhouette and its royal scale, the The Dent Blanche is worthy of the most beautiful Himalayan summits . Greatness, purity, beauty and immortality. This is what this magnificent photograph inspires me. It is an ode to the Biancograt, famous ridge of the Alps that passes by the Pizzo Bianco to lead to the summit of the Piz Bernina. The latter, which rises to 4048 meters above sea level, is the highest summit of the Bernina massif, in Switzerland. I really like the angle captured by my lens, which puts us perfectly in front of the mythical Biancograt. Its ascent is deserved and every mountaineer dreams to climb it one day. It seems all-powerful on this photograph whereas it is today threatened by the consequences of the global warming. How long will it continue to be the joy of climbers? This alpine jewel as we know it is unfortunately doomed to disappear, like many of the snowy summits that make the splendor of the Alps. Over time, I realized that the mountain offers me to see a new part of itself with each of my trips. It inspires me and reveals a different face every day. Depending on the light, the weather conditions and the season. Transmitting the grandeur of the high mountains in my work therefore takes the form of an insatiable and eternal personal quest. My photographic works are a reflection of myself. When I started out, I felt a compelling need to convey the power of the mountains through powerful contrasts. Now, with experience, after having given myself body and soul to the alpine kingdom, my search has evolved along with my personality. My relationship with the mountain has changed just as my personal history has made me grow. I now prefer the softness of the contrasts to retranscribe the power of the high summits. The challenge is great and terribly exciting because it is to create an alchemy between softness and power, two notions that seem to oppose each other, to better highlight the incredible beauty of the high mountains. Spectacular view of the Mont-Blanc massif from the heights of Emosson, in the Swiss Alps. This very beautiful black and white photograph highlights many summits of the French Alps. On the left, the Aiguilles of Chamonix are outlined: the Aiguilles du Grépon, Blaitière, du Plan and the famous Aiguille du Midi. Then we admire the Three Mounts: the Mont-Blanc du Tacul, the Mont Maudit and the Mont Blanc. The Mont Blanc of Courmayeur can be seen from Italy. If we continue our crossing, the ridge leads us to the Deux Bosses and the Vallot refuge. Then we descend to the Dôme du Goûter and the refuge of the same name. Behind the Aiguille du Goûter, appears the mythical and sharp ridge of Bionnassay. Finally, in the foreground, the Aiguilles Rouges massif rises in the darkness. It contrasts with the infinite whiteness of the Mont-Blanc massif, just adorned with snow. To create this work, I went up to summit de Bel Oiseau. At nightfall, I set my camera to a long exposure time to capture the last rays of the sun on the snowy walls. It was bitterly cold, and as I waited to see the mountain reveal itself, my hands gradually froze. After having immortalized the beauty of summits, I took refuge in my tent, sheltered from the wind, to try to warm up until the early morning. I keep a marvelous memory of the show that nature offered me in this autumn evening. After a strong storm, the afterglow that illuminates the sky reflects on the walls and the freshly snowed glaciers of the Mont-Blanc massif. It makes summits shine like diamonds and sublimates their legendary grandeur. The movement of the clouds endows the painting with a remarkable dreamlike intensity. Adventurous travelers, we contemplate the Himalayan mountain emerging from the mist, charismatic and bewitching. The Cime de l'Est, culminating at 3178 meters above Champéry, in the Val d'Illiez. It is one of the seven summits of more than 3000 meters of altitude constituting the massif of Dents du Midi. This jewel of the Valais Alps has become the emblem of the Portes du Soleil ski area. These mountains fascinate me. Very present in the Swiss panorama, I cannot escape them. They impregnate my art as they haunt my thoughts. I took this photograph from the heights of Evonniaz, in the Rhone Valley. From Montreux, the Dents du Midi seem to be aligned whereas here we discover that they form an arc of circle. Rocky enclosure dominating the horizon. Behind the Cime de l'Est stands the Haute Cime. With its 3257 meters, it is the highest summit of the massif. We are in winter. After having fought against the storm, the summits wake up, stronger than ever. The Teeth, still smoking, come out of the mist, devouring the sky with ardor. The first rays of the sun illuminate their freshly snowed walls. An ephemeral sweetness of life in the heart of an implacable and wild nature. In this vertiginous portrait of the Cime de l'Est, I wanted to highlight the absolute verticality of its eastern face, a veritable precipice 750 meters high. Its excessiveness gives it an air of the Matterhorn, king of the Swiss Alps. Our eye wavers in front of such immensity. If man were to appear on the photograph as a landmark in the middle of the picture, he would only be a point lost in the middle of the rocks, so monumental is the wall. This epic journey to meet the mountain is carried by the power of the lines and the elegance of the play of lights. This is how, through my art, I manage to reveal the deep and unchanging soul of a mountain that never ceases to intoxicate me. We are here in front of the most beautiful mountain in the world : The Matterhorn. Treasure of the Valais Alps, it stands proudly in the region of #Zermatt. This aerial view is taken by helicopter just after the storm. In the background, the Mount Rose massif emerges like a fortress above the clouds, giving depth to the photograph. Its summit, the Dufourspitze, is the highest of the Swiss Alps. It is accompanied by the small Matterhorn, theBreithorn, theCastor and the #Liskamm. At the foot of Mount Rose, the famous Gorner and Grenz glaciers appear. Together under the general name of #Gornergletscher, they used to form one huge ice area. But the ever-rising temperatures have unfortunately separated them for good, with the Gorner retreating further each year. In this work, I have chosen to show the Matterhorn from a new angle. The sun's rays illuminate its north face, freshly plastered with snow. Facing us, its western face, still in shadow, is just emerging from a sea of mist. On the right, the Lion ridge appears, the way to climb the mountain from Italy. On the left, the Zmutt ridge marks the border between light and shadow. Here the Matterhorn pierces the clouds with its sharp point to reach the kingdom of heaven. Brandishing the cross that adorns its summit, it challenges anyone to climb the last few meters of its peak. Through this imposing portrait, I wanted to transcribe the greatness of this exceptional mountain in its most inaccessible and immutable. Sumptuous Dents du Midi dominating the Val d'Illiez, in the heart of the Swiss Alps. Seven summits of more than 3000 meters of altitude make up this famous high mountain massif. Visible from the Swiss Riviera and the shores of Lake Geneva, the elegance of its silhouette attracts the eye. The Cime de l'Est and the Fortress play the leading role here. At their foot is the Chalin refuge. This work will please the inhabitants of vaud alps and Villars-sur-Ollon, who have the infinite chance to admire this exceptional panorama every day. I deeply love these mountains, whose verticality inspires me. Each of our meetings is unique and surprising. In winter, the eastern and southern slopes of Dents du Midi are sunny while the northern slopes rest in the shade until spring. But at any moment their appearance evolves, according to the weather conditions and the light. They reveal a new facet of themselves in each photograph, constantly inviting me to return to them to satisfy my quest. I made this portrait of Dents du Midi in winter. Just swept away by the storm, the summits come back to life. The clouds tear apart, bringing the mountain to the forefront. The snow freshly deposited on its sides highlights the beauty of its strata, witnesses of the richness of its history, tumultuous and millennial. The light, subdued by the mist, illuminates the summits with a direct and diffuse glow, revealing all the sensitivity of the mountain. Spectacular photograph of the Weisshorn which dominates the val d’Anniviers, in the heart of the Valais Alps, in Switzerland. Rising to 4506 meters of altitude, it is the highest summit of the imperial crown of Zinal. I had the chance to cross the ridges of this exceptional mountain. An adventure I will remember for a long time. On this picture, taken from the heights of Grimentz, the north ridge of the Weisshorn is particularly visible. It connects the main summit of the mountain to the Grand Gendarme, which rises a little further down. When I walked it, I expected to see more snow on it, but it was very rocky. A sad consequence of global warming, whose effects on the Alps summits are considerable. I took this portrait of the Weisshorn in the early afternoon, when the sun was shining on the west face of the mountain. I will never forget this extraordinary day. One of the only times I could admire this summit entirely plastered with snow. Not a single rock emerged from the thick white coat. The moment was magical. In addition to the exceptional snow conditions and the intensity of the light, a lenticular cloud suddenly appeared from nowhere. An incredible celestial jellyfish that seemed to come from the farthest reaches of the universe to celebrate the grandeur of the Weisshorn. We are in the Mont-Blanc massif, in France, facing summit des #Drus. This mythical mountain ofChamonix culminates at 3754 meters of altitude. At summit, a statue of the Holy Virgin watches over the place. The ascent of this face of the mountain is reserved for the most experienced climbers. It used to host the Bonatti pillar, which collapsed in 2005 in a terrible landslide. This fall added even more verticality to the wall, preventing the snow from settling easily on the rock.I had to wait 8 years to be able to make this striking photograph of the grandeur of the Drus. I needed all the elements to merge to create the atmosphere that would perfectly render the presence of the peak. I waited day and night, until the moment when the magic happened. It was a winter evening, after a storm. The summit was suddenly clear, freshly plastered with white. A small cloud was masking the bottom of the mountain, detaching it from the landscape (unfortunately not visible on the instagram version). Drum roll for the epic beauty of this fabulous portrait of the The Dent Blanche. Definitely one of my favorite photographs. I dreamed about it for so long before I managed to immortalize it like this! I am very proud of this work. I made this black and white portrait of The Dent Blanche in 2017, at the fall of a harsh winter day. Emerging victorious from a major snowstorm, the mountain rises from the clouds, adorned in its thick blanket of snow. A pyramid of rock and ice defying the sky with its colossal stature. Between light and shadow, the succession of shots brings depth to the work. Perfect balance of a nature yet in prey to the elements. The diagonal of the edges goes to the left when the clouds breathe an inverse movement to the painting. The confrontation of earth and sky gives life to the photograph and offers a dramatic and almost mystical intensity to the work. Some time after I took this beautiful picture, I had the chance to climb the The Dent Blanche to reach the summit. That day, I had an incredible experience in contact with the mountain. My guide and I found ourselves for almost an hour in the middle of an impressive storm. The lightning and implacable violence of an all-powerful nature against which we can do nothing. The winds have whitened the summit, making it almost inaccessible. A tragic and terrifying moment that I experienced quite differently. While I was up there, I thought again of this portrait of the The Dent Blanche. The unique sensation and the unspeakable happiness of being at the very heart of the work that you yourself have created. I was living the moment, lost in my imagination, at a distance from reality. I became for a few minutes the hero of a scene that I had photographed myself.
