Mount Collon
guardian of theArolla glaciers
About the work
On this particular day, the light played with the snow and rock. The shadows accentuated the verticality of the face, while the areas hit by the sun revealed the purity of the fresh snow. The wind, still present at altitude, lifted light white plumes, like a last echo of the storm.
To photograph a moment like this is to agree to wait for it. It means being ready when the elements calm down, the fog recedes and the mountain, in all its power, decides to show itself. Mont Collon, often discreet in the shadow of higher summits , then reveals itself in all its grandeur.
This portrait is a tribute toArolla's iconic summit , its glaciers and the harmony that reigns in the heights. An invitation to contemplate the mountain as it is: sovereign, changing and eternal.
